November 5, 2008

Each month, Island Sports Media photographer Alan Kang features someone from Hawaii that exhibits the “Aloha Spirit”. This month, Alan is featuring Daniel a bus driver in Honolulu.
This is DANIEL who grew up on Molokai and now drives for THE BUS here in Honolulu for 34 Years and 11 Months. Come December 7, 2008 he’ll have 35 years with THE BUS. He started back in 1973. I’ve heard a lot of Daniel from other bus riders and had to see for my self these past two months riding his Route 3, Salt Lake to Kaimuki and he should be recognized as the “Outstanding”, most “Aloha”, very “Considerate” and most of all, the Kindness he shows and a very reliable bus drive for THE BUS here in Hawaii. Words are beyond what I’ve seen about Daniel, he is “Mr. Aloha” 2008. Great person!!!

Aloha Airlines Bankrupt!
March 31, 2008
By Dave K.
Aloha Airlines will close their passenger operations as of Tuesday, April 1st as a result of bankruptcy. This action ends a 61-year history of service to the islands. Closing the passenger operations will affect about 1,900 full and part-time employees out of a total workforce of about 3,550. This sudden closure of operations is a result of futile efforts by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court to find buyers for the operation. Aloha Airlines’ bankruptcy may have resulted from the competition of Go! airlines along with soaring fuel costs. Aloha Airlines’ administrative, cargo and aviation services operations will continue their operations while the company goes through Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
Passengers that have flights booked after Tuesday are being asked to contact their travel agents or credit card companies for refunds.
