Kapolei vs. Leilehua Softball!

Kapolei HSPhoto by Alan Kang.  The other day, our roving photographer Alan Kang stopped by Kapolei HS to check out the Kapolei Girls Softball team lead by Coach Anthony Saffery and Assisted by Coach Stacie Mahoe.  The team went up against the Leilehua Girls Softball team and pushed the “Mules” aside to take the win 4-1 at their Kapolei High School softball field on March 16, 2009. Robby Toma makes a catch!A true All-Star high school football classic was held on a rain drenched evening at Aloha Stadium last night where future Division I college prospects showcased their skills and talents before a faithful crowd of 4, 497. What made this post season bowl game so special was that it featured mainland high school seniors who have made verbal commitments to the likes of Oklahoma, USC, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Cal, Georgia, LSU, Auburn, Michigan, Cincinnati, Boston College, and Tennessee, just to name a few; versus a bumper crop of gifted athletes from the 50th State and Polynesia.

HAWAI`I ALL-STAR FOOTBALL CLASSIC

Manti TeoThe Hawai`i All-Star Football Classic is on Friday, December 12th.  This event features two games, the 18th Annual Senior Bowl Goodwill Classic at 5 p.m. and the 1st Annual Hawai`i/Polynesia-Mainland Bowl at 8 p.m.. 

The Senior Bowl Goodwill Classic will allow 100 OIA and ILH high school seniors a chance to showcase their talents for visiting college recruiters.  It also raises funds for local high schools and provides scholarships for college-bound athletes. Read more

With about 7 minutes left in the game and Kahuku leading 10-2, it appeared Leilehua’s season was coming to an end.  Kahuku was in control of the game as Leilehua was having problems moving the ball all game long against Kahuku’s tough defense.  That may have been the case but Leilehua never gave up!
