February 17, 2009
By Mike Sullivan
Michelle Wie made her rookie debut on the LPGA Tour this Valentine’s weekend. Wie finished the second round tied for the lead with Angela Stanford. After holding a three stroke lead heading down the back nine Wie hit into a hazard on the Eleventh hole for a double bogie. In combination with a missed shot put on Sixteen it was over. Stanford overtook Wie in a flurry with three straight birdies. This was Stanford’s third win in her last seven tournaments. Despite the loss for Wie, she is off to a stellar start.
