This weekend’s game (November 6, 2010) against the Boise State Broncos (7-0, 3-0 WAC), will be the game of the year for the Hawaii Warrior Football team (7-2, 5-0 WAC). This game against two undefeated WAC teams could very well determine this year’s WAC Champion. The sports betting odds in Las Vegas has the #2 ranked Boise State a 21 point favorite going into this game.
The Warriors will have an tough battle controlling Boise State’s Kellen Moore who leads the nation in passing efficiency with 188.30 and their defense who twice this season has gone more than 80 straight minutes without allowing a score.
But I have faith in the Warrior offense, led by quarterback Bryant Moniz and wide receiver Greg Salas. Salas is ranked #2 in the nationally in receptions per game (9.0) and receiving yards (137.3), with eight touchdowns. He is also ranked #1 nationally with 1236 yards receiving yards this season. Last week, Salas earned an invitation to play in this season’s Senior Bowl.
The Warrior defense is tough this year ranking second nationally in turnovers caused with 26, just two behind of Oregon. There is also Linebacker Corey Paredes who leads the Warriors on defense, who ranks fourth nationally in tackles, averaging 11.9 per game.
This year’s Warriors gave the USC Trojans a run for their money. Anything can happen so don’t write the Warriors off as a lost. The Warriors have heart and the Warrior mentality. This game will be a good battle between two undefeated WAC teams. So, I wish I could be on the sidelines taking photos at this big game but I will be in “Sin City” Las Vegas watching the game from a sports bar somewhere. I will be screaming Go Warriors!!
The game will be televised on ESPNU at 1:30 p.m. MT and on ESPN 1420 radio.
