Any Kind Stuff…Hawaii, Las Vegas, Pure Aloha

Pure Aloha 2008, Hawaiian Soul by Steve KajihiroMost people think of Las Vegas as a gambling town with lots of flashing lights and good food.  But, Las Vegas, NV. is also home to relocated Hawai’i residents and Pacific Islanders. One of the things, that we miss as island transplants are family, friends, “ono” food, and music.  This past weekend in Las Vegas, the Pure Aloha festivites was a cure for all of that.

Lots of good food, merchandise, and entertainment.   This event immediately brought me back home to the islands.  My pidgin accent never went away but this definitely brought it back stronger. Pure Aloha 2008, Guy Perez of Hawaiian Soul. Photo by Steve Kajihiro

Groups featured throughout the weekend was the Hooliganz, Katchafire, Sudden Rush, Kapena, and Hawaiian Soul.  The entertainment here appealed to everyone; Friday to the younger Reggae crowd and Saturday was for the more older audience.

Lots of fun, food, and entertainment.  Good job everyone and Mahalo for bringing us all closer to home.

Until next time….Aloha

Local kind music hits home no matter where you live or where you’re from. Once you have a taste for Hawaii no matter where you end up you take Hawaii with you. That’s why I’m glad I came across this website.

    Hana Hou!
